Service

To love is to will the good of the other, as other. To love is not only to recognize, honor, and celebrate the divine, image-bearing essence of our neighbors but also to empower them with whatever power we have.

The ancient church exemplified service as a spiritual practice, pouring themselves out upon the altar of the other, just as God, in the person of Christ, poured Himself out upon the altar of humanity.

Service is not an idea. It is not a theory. It is the meeting of concrete needs with concrete deeds. Love alone is credible.
